Emmy-nominated composer HEATHER MCINTOSH is a multifaceted musician, composer, and co-president of The Alliance for Women Film Composers. From her early days playing alongside The Elephant 6 Collective, Gnarls Barkley, and Lil Wayne, to recording with luminaries like Animal Collective, Norah Jones, and St. Vincent, Heather’s musical career is rich and varied.

Transitioning from live performances with Bright Eyes, of Montreal, Cat Power, and John C. Reilly and Friends, Heather has seamlessly evolved into a prolific composer for film and television since 2011.

Heather’s love affair with film blossomed during her time working at a video store in Athens, GA, while she studied concert music composition and lent her cello skills to various bands.

An alumna of The Sundance Institute Music & Sound Design Labs at Skywalker Sound, a Sundance Institute Time Warner Foundation Fellow, Heather is also a proud member of esteemed institutions like The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, The Recording Academy, and the Television Academy.

Her impressive credits boast collaborations with directors like Craig Zobel for the films ‘Compliance,’ ‘Z for Zachariah,‘ and ‘One Dollar’, Riley Stearns for ‘Faults and The Art of Self-Defense’ and Astra Taylor’s ‘Examined Life’ and ‘What is Democracy?’. Heather’s versatility shines in her original scores for documentaries such as ‘Hal’ and ‘Sheryl’ by Amy Scott, exploring the lives of Hal Ashby and Sheryl Crow. Notable series like ‘The L Word: Generation Q’ and ‘Partner Track,’ co-composed with Allyson Newman, showcase her prowess in the realm of television.

Heather’s latest triumph, ‘Winner,’ marks her sixth film premiere at the Sundance Film Festival and second project with director Susanna Fogel, a testament to her continued innovation in the world of cinematic soundscapes.

Currently based in Los Angeles, she not only crafts mesmerizing music for media but is also co-president of the Alliance for Women Film Composers, championing diversity and excellence in the industry.
